Truffle Maker Using Arcturos Pinot Noir

Grocer’s Daughter, the delicious chocolate truffle-maker from Empire, is using our Arcturos Pinot Noir to enhance the flavor in one of her delectible goodies…and you can find the truffles around the Traverse City area or downstate at Zingerman’s, voted one of the best delis in America, in Ann Arbor.
You’ll also find them for sale in our Tasting Room or, better yet, on you pillow when you stay at our Inn.

The Big Cheese

Leelanau Cheese has taken home both national and international honors. Anne and John entered their Aged Raclette in both the 2005 US Cheese Championship in Wisconsin and the 2005 World Cheese Awards in London, and came away with Gold Medals in both competitions.

Bult that’s not all. They’re also 1st runner-up of all 1008 cheeses entered in 42 catagories in the US competition! The aged Raclette is only available in our Suttons Bay Tasting Room. Come and pick up a taste of the champion.

Consumers Win!

Michigan consumers have won the battle!
The Michigan Senate and House have passed legislation allowing Michigan wineries to continue to ship wine to Michigan consumers, and the Governor signed the bill, with our Don Coe and State Senator, Michelle McManus looking on, during a visit to Traverse City on December 15th.
Out-of-state wineries will now also be able to ship wine to Michigan consumers, and Michigan wineries will now be able to ship wine to our consumers in many other states.

Blackstar Farms consumers win!

Sirius Maple Takes Gold

We’ve added to our growing medal collection. The Michigan Syder Competition in Grand Rapids recently awarded a Gold Medal to our Sirius Maple Dessert Wine. Also received was a Siver for our Sirius Pear Dessert Wine and a Bronze for our Pear Wine.
How about bringing one of these home to dinner? They’re all delicious.

Sotheby's Rates Black Star Wines "2 Stars"

Tom Stevenson’s The Sotheby’s Wine Encyclopedia, The Classic Reference to the Wines of the World has just been published. Black Star Farms received a V for value for money and 2 stars (Very exceptional wines. The local equivalent of a Bordeaux super-second.) We are the ONLY US winery outside of California and the Pacific Northwest to get two stars.

Here’s what he had to say, “Michigan’s superstar boutique winery (artisinal creamery and luxury B&B inn) has risen to the top under the skillful guidance of Lee Lutes, the state’s most gifted red-winemaker. Lutes even manages to bring a touch of class to hybrids, making a yummy Red House Red from a blend of Marechal Foch, Dornfelder, Regent and Cabernet Franc.”
