The 40 “dog days” of summer officially began on July3rd and they run until August 11th. They are named for Sirius – the Dog Star – in the constellation Canis Major which shines most brightly during this period. The ancient Greeks and Romans believed the star was responsible for the heat and blamed it for periods of draught, sickness, and discomfort.
Black Star Farms’ port-style dessert wines are also named in honor of Sirius. We offer five different kinds, Sirius Cherry, Sirius Pear, Sirius White (grape), Sirius Maple, and Sirius Raspberry. Each one of these wines is perfect for sipping on after dinner with dessert or on its own. A 1 oz. serving of Sirius dessert wine won’t prevent draught but it will keep discomfort away because these wines are fortified with brandy that acts as a digestive after a meal. For more information on each one of these products visit the Dessert Wines section of our website.

Great! I am planning on visiting Monday, July 27th. I look forward to trying the Sirius Cherry. Actually, they all sound wonderful!
Hope you enjoyed your visit. Did you get a chance to try any of the Sirius Dessert wines?
