2008 Leorie Vineyard Merlot Cabernet Franc

This beautiful red wine represents the awesome quality dynamic that Leorie Vineyard possesses. Considered one of the great reds of Michigan, this wine, through extra barrel and bottle maturation, maintains the elegance and beauty that is the signature of this vineyard. Deep bramble fruit with refined spice notes could lead one to think (dare we suggest?) Bordeaux!

Flavor and Aroma:
Round and full-bodied with a silky texture and a lengthy finish. Intense plum and jammy red berry flavors intertwine with hints of chocolate, coffee, and spice. These aromas and flavors are complimented by aging in new and second use French, Eastern European and American Oak barrels.

Aging Potential:
This wine is stellar now but, with appropriate cellaring, will develop exceptionally during the next three to ten plus years.

Thoughts for Food:
Enjoy this wine with hearty meals, braised meats such as venison, lamb, and beef or rich pastas and stews. Suggested dishes include: Beef Wellington, Pot Roast, and Rack of Lamb.

Wine Makers Comments:
This red is considered by our wine making team, to be the wineries creme de la creme! The fruit from this vineyard is typically exceptional and the resulting wine always dynamic.
