2009 Isidor's Choice Blanc de Noir

Pinot Noir is one of our signature wines and we love working with the grape as much as possible. Our commitment to the production of this variety has lead us to the inaugural bottling of this wine. We hope to continue to develop and bottle more of this bubbly over time.

Appellation:Leelanau Peninsula
Blend:100% Pinot Noir
Bottling:5/07/10, 330 cases, disgorged in December 2010 - 80 cases, 12% alcohol, .4% residual sugar

Flavor and Aroma:
Classic Methode Champanoise style, with subtle strawberry/raspberry fruit in the nose, delicate fresh bread and sweet cream. On the palate all of this is extended, but with a richness that you do not expect in a sparkling wine, and is part of what makes this style so alluring.

Thoughts for Food:
This wine is very complementary to savory style appetizers and main courses. We recommend mushroom inspired starters, roasted game birds, and medium to full-bodied cheeses. More ideas are noted in the winemaker's comments below.

Wine Maker Comments:
This is a fabulous style of bubbly to make in our region, especially when you have access to as many good Pinot Noir vineyards as we do. This is a sparkling wine for those that might prefer the lower acid content, the ability to pair with a broad array of varying cuisines, and to simply enjoy on its own. Whereas our Chardonnay/Pinot Noir blends with their higher acidities, beg for oysters or foie gras, let a simple duck breast crostini or chicken liver pate accompany you to digestion bliss with this sparkler! This is arguably a cooler weather sparkling wine, as its rich flavors and textures direct your palate to fall and winter dishes, but it also may serve as a wine to enjoy throughout a meal. It can be your aperitif, your first course AND second course wine! It has the ability to engage with all of it.
