Winemaker Lee Lutes returned from this year’s Riesling Rendezvous in Washington even more excited about this noble grape. He’s quoted by Cari Noga in Crain’s Detroit Business:
âItâs the one grape variety that is regularly allowing Michigan to take a national spotlight,â said Lee Lutes, winemaker at Black Star Farms and another participant. âIt has more pedigree and it has more consistency and more of a quality dynamic than anything else thatâs produced.â
His enthusiasm shows in the medals collected at this week’s Michigan Wine Competion – bringing home a Silver for ’07 Arcturos Late Harvest Riesling and three Bronzes for ’07 A Capella Riesling Ice Wine, ’07 Arcturos Semi-Dry Riesling, and ’07 Arcturos Dy Riesling.
