Our new tasting room/bistro TASTES is housed in one of North America's largest and most innovative redevelopment projects - the Village at Grand Traverse Commons. This project preserves history and green space while promoting a community of businesses.
TASTES, located in the Mercato in the former Building 50, offers a unique twist on wine tasting. Open Tuesday - Saturday from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. the tasting bar offers samples from the full range of Black Star wines. After 5 p.m. customers are invited to indulge in small plates of artisanal food paired with wine, dessert wine, and brandy starting at $8. Small plates include both appetizers and desserts. Some examples include:
- Carlson's Smoked Whitefish Pate served with Pleasanton Bakery Golden Wheat Bread paired with: Bubbles Up - Black Star Farms 2004 Sparkling Wine & Black Star Farms Sparkling Hard Apple Cider.
- Leelanau Peppercorn Fromage Blanc & Raclette Cheeses with Pleasanton Village Golden Wheat Bread paired with: Anytime Whites - Arcturous Sur Lie Chardonnay & Arcturos Pinot Gris
- Silvertree Deli Flourless Chocolate Brownie paired with: Cherrylicious - Spirit of Cherry Eau de Vie & Sirius Cherry Dessert Wine
The artisanal foods served at TASTES are produced by Village neighbors including Underground Cheesecake Company, Silvertree Deli, Higher Grounds Trading Company, Pleasanton Brick Oven Bakery, plus Leelanau Cheese Company and the Great Lakes Culinary Institute. Please note that the food samples change depending on availability and seasonality of ingredients.
