The Price of Aged Raclette

Anne and John donated one pound of their “North American Best” aged raclette to raise dollars for the Northport Promise, a local charity helping all Northport students with college costs. When the bidding was over, the cheese brought in $67 – well worth it for this sought-after cheese.

  1. I trust we are able to purchase some cheese when we can get up to that part of Michigan. We live in the Thumb of Michigan. We read the article about your business from the 03.30.08 Detroit newspaper. How thrill ed we are to read this wonderful story about you all. We really would also like to be investors in the business. Thank-you. I can’t wait to taste this cheese.

I HAVE BEEN TO SWITZERLAND A NUMBER OF TIMES, AND FELL IN LOVE WITH RACLETTE. THE FIRST EXPERIENCE WAS IN A RESTAURANT IN WHICH THE WAITRESS BROUGHT ME THREE PLATES OF IT WITHOUT MY HAVING ORDERED THE LAST TWO! WHEN THE FOURTH PLATE REPLACED THE THIRD, I TRIED TO OBJECT, BUT LANGUAGE INTERFERED. THE MANAGER SPOKE ENGLISH, AND EXPLAINED THAT IT WAS CUSTOMARY IN NEIGHBORHOOD RESTAURANTS TO “KEEP IT COMING”, AND YOU HAVE TO TELL THEM TO STOP.HE OFFERED TO REMOVE THE PLATE. NO WAY!. I HAD 5 PLATES THAT DAY. MY MOUTH IS WATERING!!!!!!

I SHOULD ADD TO MY COMMENT THAT I GOT TO THIS SITE AFTER REVIEWING A DETROIT FREE PRESS ARTICLE ON LEELANAU CHEESE COMPANY OPERATED BY ANNE AND JOHN HOYT, WHICH APPEARED ON SEPTEMBER 23, 1998.VERY NICE TO MEET YOU!

Your websight is wonderful—but the obvious eluded me! I want to purchase raclette, but no place to order on line, and precious little about cost. Please provide:
    1. pricing
    2. a place to include my information

If it’s there, please direct me

  5. Seema-
    Thanks for your question.
Please click on the Creamery and then, on the left hand side of that page, click on Ordering Information. There you’ll find a link to a printable order form (with current prices) that can be filled in and faxed to 231-271-2601. Or you may simply call Leelanau Cheese at 231-271-2600.
