CELEBRATING 25 YEARS OF EXCELLENCE IN WINE AND HOSPITALITY!

This year marks our silver anniversary, and to honor this milestone, we plan to celebrate with special offers throughout 2023. In 1998, our co-founding partners, Kerm Campbell and Don Coe, along with head winemaker Lee Lutes, had the vision to create a word class wine-country destination. Today, that goal has been far exceeded, and our business now includes a highly-acclaimed Inn, plus extensive culinary and special events programs.

Our success would not have been possible without our hard-working team, our faithful fans, dedicated wine club members, and repeat Inn guests, to name a few.

In appreciation, we will be offering new ways to enjoy Black Star Farms throughout the year. A new sparkling wine release, unique wine-tasting options, creative dining experiences, special Inn promotions, and a summer cocktail party in the vineyard are just some of the exciting things we have in store.

Winemaking, Cheesemaking, & Raclette Dinner Experience

Friday, April 7

We invite you to join us for a special behind-the-scenes experience uniquely pairing local wine and cheese!

This one-of-a-kind event will begin with a look at how the award-winning cheese is made at Leelanau Cheese Company. Participants will tour the creamery and aging facility as the mysteries of cheesemaking are explained. End on a delicious note, tasting all their fresh and cave-aged cheeses.

Next, participants will head to Black Star Farms for an educational tour through the wine cave while learning about the history of winemaking in our region. The tour will conclude in the tasting room with a private premium tasting featuring six wines that showcase our unique terroir.

Wine and cheese will come together for the grand finale with a traditional Raclette Dinner at the Inn at Black Star Farms featuring Leelanau Cheese. This fun and interactive way of dining originated in the Swiss Alps. It involves an electric tabletop grill with small pans beneath. Meats, potatoes, and vegetables are brought to your table and warmed on the grill top while slices of Raclette cheese are placed in the small pans to melt. Sharing stories while creating personalized dishes on a Raclette grill is an activity everyone will love!

Spots are limited to 20 people, so purchase your ticket today!

Earth Day

Saturday, April 22

At Black Star Farms, we appreciate what the Earth provides us. Our goal is to be environmentally and socially responsible in every operational decision. The land provides our products, services, and experiences. We must be responsible stewards to ensure that the same land will remain healthy for many generations to come. Therefore 130 acres of our vineyards have been agriculturally protected.

From 11 AM – 5 PM at both tasting rooms, we will partner with SEEDS, a local nonprofit focusing on place-based activities that regenerate habitat, prevent carbon emissions, develop talent pipelines for green industries, and invest in the next generations.

• $2 from every wine flight and $1 from every glass of wine sold this day will be donated to this vital organization.

• Wildflower seed packets will be given out on a donation basis.

• A complimentary vineyard tour will be offered at our Suttons Bay location at noon. No reservations are needed.

Summer Pours for Pups Party

Saturday, June 10, 5 PM-8 PM

Kick off the summer season and celebrate 25 years of BSF with a special dog-themed party at our Suttons Bay tasting room patio and front lawn. A portion of sales ($3 from each wine flight, $2 from each glass of wine or cocktail) will benefit the Great Lakes Humane Society, a non-profit organization dedicated to animal welfare located on a 10-acre private farm in Leelanau County.

The Great Lakes Humane Society’s mission is to take in stray and unwanted animals and find loving, lasting homes for them, to educate the public about adopting rather than purchasing a pet, and to increase awareness of the need to spay and neuter animals in the battle against pet overpopulation.

We invite you to bring your furry friends to mix and mingle while supporting this great organization!

• Meet adoptable dogs from the Great Lakes Humane Society

• Listen to live music with Adam Sleder of Soul Patch

• Play lawn games

• Enjoy grilled gourmet hotdogs with house-made toppings

• Imbibe in specialty cocktails like the Greyhound and Salty Dog

• Buy custom-labeled “Dog House” wine to support the Great Lakes Humane Society

• Walk the Dog Treat Trail

Treat your pups to our one-of-a-kind Dog Treat Trail!  A selection of bakery dog treats donated by Pet’s Naturally, Northern Michigan’s only holistic pet supply store will be placed along our on-site hiking trail so you can walk in the woods while your pups sample treats along the way. It’s the dog-friendly equivalent of wine tasting!
