🎉 Happy International Riesling Day! Did you k 🎉 Happy International Riesling Day!

Did you know there is approximately 89,000+ acres of Riesling planted worldwide? It also happens to be the most widely planted wine grape in the state of Michigan.

Research suggests that Riesling originated in the Rhine River region in Germany/Alsace. To this day, the majority of Riesling is grown in Germany, however, you can find it in several countries such as Australia, France, Austria, New Zealand, and of course the US.

While many people believe that only red wines have aging potential, quality Riesling can actually age beautifully. This is due to Rieslings naturally high acidity and prominent fruit profile. As Riesling ages, its bright, fresh fruit characteristics develop into more complex aromas and flavors such as honey, honeycomb, beeswax, ginger, and petrol.

According to The Wines of Germany trade group, March 13, 1435 marks the date of Riesling’s first documented existence. March 13th has therefore been declared Riesling’s official birthday!

Don’t forget we’re celebrating Riesling today through Friday 3/17 with some Riesling specials!
