May is Michigan Wine Month

Hooray, it’s May! And lucky for us, May is Michigan Wine Month, but what does that mean? Our friends at the Michigan Wine Collaborative explain it best, “Michigan Wine Month is dedicated to educating consumers across Michigan and beyond about the quality and variety of world-class Michigan wines. It also promotes the Michigan wine industry by encouraging customers to patronize Michigan’s wineries, purchase Michigan wine online and in retail stores, become a Vintage Michigan member, and other means of support.”

In celebration of Michigan Wine Month, Traverse City Tourism is bringing back Traverse City Uncorked with a COVID-safe twist! For the entire month of May, wine lovers are invited to participate in this self-guided tour powered by a digital passport. The digital passport comes complete with savings, special offers, and opportunities to win prizes.

We will be offering 10% off wine purchases at both of our tasting rooms to guests that present their Traverse City Uncorked digital passport upon check-out. This offer is only redeemable in person, excludes spirits, and cannot be combined with other coupons or discounts.

Rose all May

The Leelanau Peninsula Wine Trail is also celebrating Michigan Wine Month with Rosé All May. Yes, you read that right, Rosé All May! Ticket holders receive a 3 oz glass of select rosé at participating wineries throughout the entire month of May. We will be offering a choice between our sweet, bubbly rosé, Delighted, or our dry, bubbly rosé, Blushed, which is making its highly anticipated return to our shelvesTickets may be purchased online or at participating wineries.

Blushed

Blushed
This sparkling wine was made from a blend of white and red grapes, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, and Marquette. With only .5% residual sugar, this bubbly rosé is dry and crisp. The fine bubbles make for a texture that is both exciting and refined. Flavors of red raspberries, Montmorency cherries, and lemon tart burst open on your palate. Enjoy this wine with cream-based dishes, soft, rich cheeses, and for a surprising twist, serve it with fried chicken!

Label of Delighted sparkling wine.

Delighted
This is one of our most popular wines among sweet vino lovers. It has aromas and flavors reminiscent of strawberry jam and cotton candy. Made from 100% Frontenac Gris, this sparkling wine beautifully showcases the fruity nature of this cold-hardy grape. The bubbles keep this wine feeling light and airy on the palate. Easily enjoyed on its own, the Delighted also pairs well with desserts – try it with a lemon ricotta cheesecake!
