Testimonials
We had planned this getaway for months and were a bit worried due to COVID when we went. From the moment we arrived to the time we left, we had nothing short of an amazing experience. We felt very safe and cared for the entire time and the food was out of this world. Highly recommend!
What a wonderful weekend we had at Black Star Farms. Our arrival was warm and welcoming, our room was spotless, and the chef prepared breakfasts were outstanding. If you are thinking of pampering yourself, this is the place to go.
I know what you’re thinking, surely this place couldn’t be as good as all the reviews say. But I’m here to tell you it lives up to the hype! The Inn at Black Star Farms was easily one of my favorite destination vacation stays ever. Everything about this place is 5 star, from the chef-prepared breakfast in the morning to the guest happy hour. The staff in the tasting room knew pretty much everything there is to know about the wine they served. Allison runs the place in such a way that makes you feel like family. We were warmly greeted as soon as we entered the Inn, given a tour and shown our room. Allison was always available to answer questions or clue us in about local attractions. The grounds are gorgeous, and we hiked several of the trails. All in all, my wife and I couldn’t have had a better time and are already starting to plan our next visit.
We had stayed at BSF in July and it was amazing. When we had a free weekend to celebrate my husbands birthday, we immediately thought of Black Star. It is just as delightful in the Winter as it is in the summer! Instead of hiking the trails, we snowshoed. And the inn covered in snow is a sight to see! Our favorite part of our stay is of course the amazing wine and the scrumptious breakfast! Each time it gets even better (though that doesn’t seem possible). A little tip for those who like a cozy space, the Lyra room is a great option. We just love it! Thanks Sean and Grace. We will be back!
Everything about our stay was perfect. Loved that the Innkeeper walked us around the building to show us where everything was upon arrival. I also really loved the cocktail hour every evening. It was nice to get to sample the amazing wines they have. The included wine tasting in the V.I.P. room was also well done. The bartenders are very knowledgeable and have good suggestions on what we should taste. We stayed in Diadem and it is way larger that it looks in the online photo. The fireplace was amazing. Mornings were perfect, I got to sit on the comfortable window seat and look out at the sunrise and watch the horses in their paddocks interact with each other. Breakfasts were beyond delicious. The Banana Foster French Toast with sausage was the best! The farm-to-table dinner in the evening was also super delicious. I got the chicken and loved it!
My husband and I had an amazing time when we stayed the week after our wedding! We didn’t know what to expect but we were blown away! The room was perfect, the breakfasts were amazing, and the hospitality hour was so much fun. We stayed in Vega room which was perfect because we didn’t spend forever in the room but had a great place to come back to and rest! What really made it special were the little touches like the wine in our room when we got there, including a special bottle since we had just gotten married, and the fresh cookies daily! We can’t wait until our next visit!
This is a beautiful inn, the staff is extremely helpful, breakfast was excellent outside on a porch overlooking a horse farm, amid vines of grapes used to make very nice local wine. Very pleasant wine tasting experience. Casual restaurant on the premises for lunch and dinner. Great location, convenient to Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes National Park, easy drive to Leland. And don’t miss the cherries!
“It is very difficult to add anything to the prior 5-star reviews of the The Inn at Black Star Farms. We have traveled the world and stayed at some amazing B & Bs including Twin Farms in Vermont and Honor Mansion in Healdsburg (Sonoma) and hotels including the Hôtel Ritz Paris, Four Seasons Hotel Milan, and The Gritti Palace in Venice. The Inn at Black Star Farms compares favorably with all the great places to stay. The Inn at Black Star Farms is perfect in every single way, the rooms are so beautifully decorated. There is nothing negative about this place or Suttons Bay and Traverse City. ”
