Testimonials

We had received a recommendation to stop by Black Star either on the Old Mission Peninsula or in Sutton’s Bay, and very glad we did. Staff was extremely knowledgeable, more so than at any other stop in our three days of tastings. Made great recommendations for other wineries to visit too. And of course the wine was excellent. Definitely want this on your tour.

Trip Advisor ~ November 2018 ~ Best Wine Tasting in Leelanau

Awesome experience because the staff has the passion and knowledge to make sure your wine tasting is memorable and they tailor it to what you like.  I would definitely make this a stop on a wine tour of the Old Mission Peninsula!

California style winery with the wines to back it.  Nice tasting room with many wines, spirits and ciders to appease the pallet. $7 for the wine tasting allows you to try 5 wines and you keep the glass.  Highly recommended. One of the best reds in Michigan is the Leorie Vineyard Red.

Trip Adivsor ~ October 2018 ~ Magnificent

Great tasting room.  We had such an amazing experience with the tasting.  Everyone was so friendly and we were given good advice on wines to try.

My wife and I have always loved these wines from a distance (purchased at our local grocery).  So when we had the chance to see it for ourselves, it was a must stop.  It is a beautiful property, meticulously kept.  The tasting room has wonderful decor and well designed layout. The staff was knowledgeable, warm, and friendly.  Don’t miss this if you are on the Leelanau Peninsula Wine Trail.

Trip Advisor ~ October 2018 ~ A Must Stop Wine Stop

We enjoyed a tasting here yesterday, and it was so great!  Our host Blake was so friendly, conversational, and knowledgeable about the Black Star Farms products.  Being novices, we really appreciated the recommended flights.  We have been to several tastings, but this particular one will always stand out.  My wife and I highly recommend visiting!!

Facebook ~ December 2018 ~ Black Star Farms Suttons Bay

By far one of the best overall wineries in the Traverse City area! If you like reds, whites, sweets or drys they make one!  Not to mention how great their spirits are!  Then there are the people who work there, they are all amazing! They are not only knowledgeable about their products, but also the area!

Google ~ January 2019

The best wines, hands down! My husband and I love this place! Very friendly staff and had a great time speaking to them! They make it a very friendly experience!

Google ~ April 2019 ~ Black Star Farms Suttons Bay

Black Star Farms has some of the best wines I have tasted. The grounds are beautiful and the staff are some of the best. They are very knowledgeable of the wines and history of the winery. I highly recommend them for a fun and easy going afternoon in beautiful Traverse City.

Trip Advisor ~ July 2019 ~ Wonderful Winery
