Testimonials

This is probably (we didn’t visit all 26 wineries) one of the best locations to sip and enjoy the Leelanau countryside. Quiet, peaceful, gorgeous setting and building with well-designed features. Outdoor and indoor settings with both great ambiance. Chris the manager took great care of us. Tara, our server also top-notch and great at hospitality. Great experience. The cafe right across the drive offers food and wine without traveling and no wait. Late Harvest Riesling is a must-taste and purchase.

Awesome winery. Best service around. Nice variety of wine and they also have spirits, of which they have a nice variety of flavors. Definitely, a place to visit at least once, but I bet if you visit it will become one of your regular stops. Drink up!

This was not only a fun experience but amazing wines. A must-go to when in town. The staff was friendly and super helpful.

What a beautiful way to spend a summer afternoon! There is a large selection of dry wines with plenty of sweet wines too. There is a wide variety of seating locations across the campus depending on your preference. We came with a dog, and they were able to easily accommodate us on the lawn of the tasting room. The members of my group all got a wine sampling and the spirit sampling. This is the best way to try the vast selections of wines. The cherry lemonade was so refreshing. Our favorite wines were the Rosé, Artisan Red, Sparkling Riesling. Favorite spirits included the 10-Year Apple Brandy and Spirit of the Vineyard Red Grappa.

Like being in a different place and time, hiked the trails through the vineyard and woods, and bought some wine for gifting. I will definitely go back.

Beautiful! This was our first stop on the 2021 Harvest Days wine tour and the place was simply beautiful! The hubs isn’t too big on wine but he found a few he liked here – between us we left with a case of wine lol. They are dog friendly and they even brought our fur baby a bowl of cold water! Will join their wine club & cannot wait to go back!

Great place to have wine and relax with the family. Great staff. Highly recommend.

My husband and I were celebrating our 50th anniversary in the Traverse City area. We spent the afternoon sampling delicious wines while enjoying the open-air patio overlooking the beautiful grounds. The wines were wonderful. We each got a flight of 3 wines, which were samples of our choosing. The staff was very friendly and helpful in getting us set up. Since it was such an enjoyable way to spend a relaxing afternoon, we highly recommend visiting Black Star Farms.

The staff is friendly, fun, and knowledgeable. We found some wines we enjoyed very much. The atmosphere is delightful. Beautiful farm setting with gorgeous vineyards. If you love a relaxing setting and no pretense, it’s worth a try!
