Black Star Farms
🎊Happy National Rosé Day! Did you know tha 🎊Happy National Rosé Day!

Did you know that there are 3 main ways to make Rosé? The most common method is the Maceration Method. Unlike red wines that can ferment for weeks on the 🍇skins & seeds, the red grapes used to produce Rosé are left to macerate in the juice for a shorter period of time, somewhere between 2-20 hours. Once the wine reaches the desired pink hue, the winemaker will remove the skins & seeds from the juice.

The 2nd method is known as the Saignée Method. Saignée means “to bleed” in French and this method involves bleeding off some of the red grape juice during the first few hours of making a red wine🍷. The bled off portion of the juice then ferments on its own without the skins & seeds.

The 3rd method is the Blending Method. Just as it sounds, this method is when a little bit of red wine is added to a vat of white wine and blended to create a Rosé. While not often used when producing still Rosés, this technique is typically employed when making sparkling wine🍾

The flavor profile of Rosé can range widely depending on a number of factors like grape variety, vineyard location, and more, but primary flavors generally include red fruit 🍓🍒🍎, melon 🍈🍉, citrus 🍋🍊, along with herbaceous (green)🫑 and floral 🌹🌸 notes.

From dry to sweet, sparkling or still, there are plenty of different styles of Rosé to enjoy and what better day to try a new Rosé than on National Rosé Day!

Stop in to one of our TC area tasting rooms and give our Arcturos Pinot Noir Rosé (dry) and our Red House Rosé (sweet) a try. We’ve got both bottles on sale for 25% off🤑 BUT you can only get this deal in person at our tasting rooms, so hurry and grab yours before they’re gone!
